Erin Snedecor is a multi-genre cellist based in Washington, DC who specializes in contemporary music, composition, and collaborative performance. While her training is primarily classical, she has used the influence of rock, jazz, folk, and electronica to improvise and compose in new styles, leading her to many unconventional collaborations and performances.
While finishing her Bachelor’s degree at Ithaca College, Erin began improvising with composers as a means of writing new works. During her graduate degree at University of Maryland, she broke into premiering and performing new classical works, songwriting, and arranging- skills she now uses frequently in live shows with DC area rock bands, theater companies, and dance troupes. She has also arranged and recorded cello parts with local rock and indie bands for their studio albums.
Erin is the cellist of Annapolis band Pompeii Graffiti, and one half of indie/folk duo Black Rhinoceros, cellist for electro-acoustic quartet Doublespeak, and a founding member of mixed chamber music ensembles Balance Campaign and earspace.
