Megan is a professional harpist offering years of experience and education in harp performance to the STL community. She has been recognized for her artistic and technical ability and strong stage presence. She appears regularly with the St. Louis Symphony and is passionate about chamber music performing with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis and Chamber Project St. Louis. She also plays with the major opera companies in St. Louis, including Opera Theatre St. Louis, Winter Opera, and Union Avenue Opera. Megan was named the harpist for the MUNY orchestra in 2018. She also regularly performs with many ensembles throughout St. Louis and the area, Bach Society of St. Louis, Masterworks Chorale (IL), Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis, to name a few.
Megan is a graduate with both a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Harp performance from the renowned Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University where she studied with Susann McDonald. She has performed at major halls across the U.S. including Carnegie Hall, Powell Hall, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and more. She can be heard on the St. Louis Symphony’s Grammy Award winning CD, City Noir.
She has a highly successful teaching studio in St. Louis. Her students have achieved honors including principal harpists of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and All State Orchestra, top awards at the Mid America Music Festival Solo Competition, scholarships to Brevard Music Festival (NC) and Indiana University, and they have attended the Young Artists Harp Seminar (GA), Curtis Institute of Music Young Artist Summer Program (PA), and Summer Harp Academy (NC). Megan Stout plays on Lyon and Healy harps. Her main performance harps are a Gold Style 23 (pictured left) and a Mahogany Style CG85 (pictured right). She teaches her lever harp students on a Prelude 40 (pictured center).
