I was born David Allen McClain on July 5, 1966 in the Cleveland, Ohio suburb of Parma. I was raised in Parma and Brook Park, Ohio by my parents, William McClain and Marlene McClain (nee Taschner). I trace my ancestry to various countries in Europe, especially Germany. I’m the oldest of six children. My siblings live in the Cleveland area and from North Carolina to California. I discovered and developed my love and talent for acting by appearing in school plays at Ford Junior High School (Brook Park, OH), Midpark High School (Middleburg Hts., OH), Edinboro University (Edinboro, PA) and, while teaching history at Great Bridge High School (Chesapeake, VA). I graduated high school as a member of the National Honor Society and graduated college Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in education. I joined the Army in 1995, working in Public Affairs until retiring in late 2015. I trained and served at bases in South Carolina, Maryland, Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland and Texas. I also worked at the Pentagon, served in Italy and Germany, and deployed to Iraq, Haiti and Jordan. I continued acting in theater productions as an active-duty soldier, winning individual and group theater awards and earning the right to perform at the National Theater Festival, AACT Fest, in Memphis, TN in 1999. During my Army career, I also wrote, directed, produced and acted in many skits, plays and video productions at churches in Augusta, GA and Alexandria, VA. In my official capacity in Army Public Affairs, I served as an adviser to the FOX TV series “Enlisted” and appeared in the FOX TV special “’Enlisted’ Boot Camp”.
Since retiring from the Army, I’ve devoted myself to a career in the arts. I’m an experienced professional photographer, videographer and photo and video editor, a published and prolific movie reviewer, a writer of short stories and screenplays and an in-demand actor. Since the summer of 2016, I have completed over 50 acting jobs in and around Houston, Austin and Dallas, Texas, to include feature films, short films, TV shows and webisodes, commercials, industrials, music videos and voice-overs. I plan to continue actively pursuing my various artistic endeavors, hoping to gain a wider audience for my writing and to become involved with even bigger and more widely-seen films which entertain and inspire, while causing Movie Fans to think and become more active in making the world a better place, one word or deed at a time. I have two adult children, William and Savannah, and I live in the Houston suburbs with my wife, Elizabeth.
