Jen Ashton is a world renowned artist who draws inspiration from creative visionaries such as Picasso, Warhol and Matisse. Formerly published and shown in galleries nationwide, Ashton is now primarily a commissioned-based painter who works directly with her clients and collectors.
Born in the Midwestern United States, Ashton’s career blossomed at the early age of five when she began selling miniature drawings to amateur art collectors for just 10 cents. Though mainly self-taught, Ashton graciously credits her junior high school art teacher, Dr. Robert Brower, with refining her skills in classic portraiture and perspective. Throughout her schooling career Jen studied art history, drawing, painting, commercial design, sculpture, photography and stained glass. She published her first work in 1991 at the age of fourteen, a piece titled American Soul.
In 2001, Ashton began a full-time art career on the West Coast with the debut of her Spiritual Series—a sell-out edition since its inception. By 2005 she was selling forty original paintings a month and was subsequently offered a publishing contract with Michael Godard Fine Art. That year, Ashton became the first art exhibitor to sell out an entire collection before the scheduled opening of the 2005 New York Art Expo. She began working on her Dream Series soon after and, together with her Spiritual Series, distributed her paintings and prints to dozens of galleries nationwide. Her first exhibition tour followed that summer.
Ashton signed another publishing contract in 2006 with a former representative of famed Playboy artist Patrick Nagel and began painting a new collection inspired by Toulouse-Lautrec. Each piece was a study of the graphic elements from vintage Parisian poster art and bold color schemes from German propaganda posters. Most of the twenty-two piece collection was purchased by one single collector in Denver, Colorado.
In 2007, Ashton studied life-casting under acclaimed sculptor Dave Parvin. She then partnered with artist Thomadro to open MadJenNation Studios in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they immortalized the bodies of local models, private clients, celebrities and athletes. MadJenNation Studios often worked in conjunction with, and raised money for, many charities including Life Safari Exotic Animal Rescue and Wolf Mountain Sanctuary.
Jen Ashton launched JenCaps, a custom line of hand-painted hats, in Spring of 2008. The collection was an instant success and within weeks custom cap orders were in high demand for numerous Las Vegas venues such as Tao Beach, Rehab and The Light Group’s Caramel, Blush and Jet. Ashton would go on to fulfill orders for clients from New York to Japan, distribute to several retail boutiques in the West and cap the heads of UFC fighters, professional poker players and adult stars.
In addition to her talent as a painter, Jen Ashton has also extended her expertise to makeup. Once she lent her fine art abilities to living canvases, she quickly became the leading body painter for the greater Las Vegas area, working with clients such as Playboy, Fiji Water and Coors Light. Ashton’s live painting performances include The Body Art Ball, Adult Con and The Power of Love Gala, just to name a few. Her editorial work has been featured on Travel Channel and among the pages of The Las Vegas Weekly for clients like Celine Dion and Cirque du Soleil.
In recent years, Ashton has focused primarily on portraiture and private collections for celebrities, professional poker stars, restaurateurs, hoteliers, musicians and fine art collectors worldwide. Her artwork has recently been displayed at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, in Las Vegas resorts such as The Bellagio and The Palms, and on Showtime Television.
