Louisa Glenn

Louisa Glenn is a Nashville-based painter. Her work focuses on modern interpretations of traditional, geometric quilt patterns and the often delicate, but mostly bold interactions of color. She is particularly attracted to the rich history of women and quilting, and to quilting as a practical embodiment of artistic expression. Glenn was recently named one of the “7 Nashville artists you should know right now”, and was chosen to participate in West Elm’s LOCAL art initiative with a coterie of exciting fellow Tennessee artists and crafters.
Glenn recently moved back to her native land after nearly five years in Washington, DC, where she worked in international development – democracy and governance programming in the Middle East, more specifically. When she wasn’t watching revolutions unfold in real time or observing parliamentary elections, Glenn spent considerable time meditating in the modern wing of the National Gallery of Art in front of her favorite Rothko.
Glenn graduated from the University of St Andrews (Scotland) in 2007 with an MA Hons in Arabic and Middle East Studies.
