Amelia Wilber

Soprano Amelia Wilber is a young, emerging singer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year, Ms. Wilber is thrilled to join The Princeton Singers for their fall tour of China and subsequent recording projects. She recently made her company and role debuts with the Delaware Valley Opera Company in The Merry Wives of Windsor as Alice Ford. With The Philadelphia Opera Prep Club, she recently appeared as Donna Elvira in their study of Don Giovanni. Previous roles and scenes appearances include Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame (Ensemble), Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Una Conversa and Ensemble), Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier (Octavian), Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor (Meg Page), Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Second Lady), Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino), Jack Beeson’s Lizzie Borden (Lizzie), Poulenc’s Les mamelles de Tirésias (Ensemble), and Janácek’s The Cunning Little Vixen (Hen and Ensemble).
While in Boston, Ms. Wilber was very active on the recital scene. As an advocate of new music, Ms. Wilber has worked with many up and coming composers on premiers of new works. Highlights from this past season include the song cycle Leaves by Ryan Scott Fossier, Journey of a Poem and The Flowered Spread by Matthew Weaver, and Buddha in der Glorie by David Vess. Ms. Wilber rounded out her recital schedule with performances of Ned Rorem’s Ariel, Dominick Argento’s Songs to be sung upon the water, and Franz Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen.
Ms. Wilber currently studies with Holly Phares. She received her Master of Music from The Boston Conservatory where she studied with Monique Phinney. She received her Bachelor of Music from Temple University where she studied with Randi Marrazzo. Notable training programs have included Si Parla, Si Canta, and The Crittenden Opera Workshop. Ms. Wilber has also had the chance to workshop with industry professionals including Kirstin Chavez, The Diagenesis Duo, Håkan Hagegård, Nicholas Clapton, Robert Cowart, and Benton Hess.
