Candice Marie
(Lead Vocals)
Candice Jernigan is a native of South Jersey and considers “the stage” her home. Since early childhood, she has performed up and down the east coast- from Philadelphia to Orlando, FL.; In recent years, Candice has fronted some of the best local cover bands, such as The Heartbeats & Don’t Call Me Francis. On stage now, Candice is a proud lead vocalist of the tri-state area’s hottest new party band, Legacy; Off stage, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tim Jernigan and newborn baby girl, Elly Francis.Legacy
When she’s not in the spotlight herself, Candice is busy directing her talented vocal & piano students at The Mount Laurel School of Music. Her vast experience in acting, singing, dancing, and piano fulfills her to give the gift of music back to aspiring performers of all ages. In addition, Candice continues to work as a freelance studio vocalist, credited with Jive/RCA Records, Columbia Records, as well as Time Warner Cable and Comcast Networks.
Ron Jones
(Lead Vocals)
Ron Jones (Sir Joneze) is a Delaware native who is a both a talented singer and an amazing stage performer. He combines catchy Pop rhythms with the silk and smooth of a seasoned R & B singer. From broadway stages, to sold out arenas, Ron is surely headed to the billboard charts. Not only does he sing and perform like a superstar, he is a dancer known to show off his stylized technical dance moves! Ron Jones started out as a musical theater performer and now, is involved with international tours and regional productions. He is always energized to bring his creative stage artistry to his fans and music lovers all over the world.
Tim Jernigan
(Band Manager, MC, Vocals, Trombone)
Tim Jernigan, Trombonist and music educator, grew up in Hatboro, Pennsylvania and has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from West Chester University in West Chester, PA. Tim is a very active member of the music community in the Philadelphia area and he performs at area schools and public venues in a variety of musical settings. He has also been a member of some of the area’s best live party bands, such as The Sid Miller Orchestra and The Don’t Call Me Francis Band. Tim met his wife Candice Marie Legacyonstage in 2010 and the two reside close to his hometown in Horsham, PA. Since then, he has become the front man, MC, and band leader of Legacy.
Daniel Wright
Daniel Wright, trumpeter, brass teacher, and clinician has a B.M. in music performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Daniel is a very active performer in the Greater-Philadelphia area. He has played at venues such as The Academy of Music, The Forrest Theatre, and The Kimmel Center. He has also performed in New York city at venues such as Carnegie Hall and The Lincoln Center. Daniel’s most recent recording credit was with R. Kelly for the album “Write Me Back”. In addition to his performance schedule, Daniel has a Private Studio in Philadelphia, PA . He teaches at a number of schools in the region, including four branches of Settlement Music School and Germantown Friends School. Daniel is also a Teaching Artist for Tune Up Philly, a subsidiary of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra.
Dave Maerz
(Guitar, Vocals)
Dave Maerz, both well-known guitarist and teacher, is also the musical director of Legacy. Dave has toured with national acts such as, A Flock of Seagulls and K.C. & The Sunshine Band, and subsequently, with local cover bands such as, Don’t Call Me Francis, Big Ric and The Rollers, Big City, and The Rage Band. He has not only performed in Atlantic City shows, but has recorded and produced for various local artists as well. Dave spends his off-stage time as a guitar instructor with 25 years of experience teaching nationally, internationally, and also now locally at the Mount LaurelLegacy School of Music.
Ilya Setrakian
Ilya Setrakian hails from New York City where he grew up in a family of artists. Studying piano from a very young age, he later on continued to hone his musical skills as a vocalist at the famed (Fiorello H. LaGuardia) High School of Performing Arts. Soon after, he moved to the Philadelphia area to study at University of the Arts. Ilya continues to live and pursue his passion in Philadelphia, collaborating with Philly’s best artists and enjoying the opportunity to play his original music at great venues in the city. New York City audiences have heard his original music at the Rockwood Music Hall, The Delancey, Bar9NY, and more.
Recently, Ilya’s songwriting has begun to attract critical acclaim. His recently released EP, Vanity inspired Vainculture reviewer, James G. to call Ilya “Philly’s latest rising talent.” He further writes, “Ilya shows listeners that he has an incomparable natural talent that some can only dream of.” Ilya also works as an accompanist, songwriter, producer, and teacher.
Vinnie Porrett
(Drums, Vocals)
Vinnie Porrett, is a New Jersey based drummer, performer, and teacher. He has been playing the drums since the age of 9. His interest in every style of music has given him the ability to play and teach at a remarkable level. Vinnie’s hard work and obsessive passion for the drums and overall music has awarded him with a scholarship from Zildjian to study at the Collective School of Music located in New York City. When he’s Legacynot drumming with Legacy, he plays in various musical settings, and enjoys teaching the art of drumming to his students at his home studio in New Jersey.
Ken Joniec
Ken learned electric bass from music teacher, Russ Faith (Andrea McArdle, Joey Lawrence) in his youth, and played in the Philadelphia band, The Exceptions while still a teenager. He went on to teach at Russ Faith Music School and then moved to Atlantic City in 1983. where he performed with many lounge and showroom acts (Clint Holmes, Smothers Brothers, Joan Rivers, Ann Jillian). He also performed and recorded with 80’s rock band, Bugzy. Ken has also played extensively with pop, rock, and jazz musicians in Philadelphia, Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
Tom Meyer
Tom is a professional musician that recently relocated to the Jersey Shore. His primary instrument is saxophone, and he also doubles on flute, clarinet and tuba. After graduating high school in 2001, Tom went on to peruse his Bachelors in Music and his Masters in Music Performance at West Chester University in West Chester PA. His most notable accomplishments while there were playing lead alto in the highest jazz ensemble, serving as student director for the Golden Rams Marching Band in 2005, and serving as a teaching assistant in 2010.
During his undergraduate studies, Tom also was a member of the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps where he played tuba, served as section leader in 2004, and received the Crossmen Distinguished Service Award in 2004. In 2005 Tom he began doing contract work in music for several different production companies. From 2005-2007 he was a musician with Hershey Entertainment and Resorts in Hershey PA, from 2008-2016 he worked for the Emmy Award winning RWS Entertainment Group out of New York, NY, and from 2009-2017 he was a showband musician with Carnival Cruise Lines based out Legacyof Miami, FL.
Currently, Tom is a freelance musician in the Tri State area and performs with Legacy as their saxophone player. He is also finishing his Doctoral studies in Jazz Performance with a minor in Classical Saxophone Performance at the University of Illinois in Urbana IL. During his time at Illinois, Tom performed in several jazz combos, played lead alto in both the Concert Jazz Band and the Latin Jazz Ensembles, and also served as a teaching assistant for several years.
