Miriam Schildkret is currently a third year DMA student in Voice Performance at Arizona State University and a student of Carole FitzPatrick. She received her Master’s in Opera Performance from ASU in 2014, and she graduated summa cum laude from Ithaca College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. She recently performed the role of “Kate” in Benjamin Britten’s Owen Wingrave and the title role in Dido and Aeneas with ASU Lyric Opera Theatre. During her Master’s, Ms. Schildkret performed the roles of “Dorabella” in Così fan tutte, “Estrella” in La Périchole, and “Prince Orlofsky” in Lyric Opera Theatre’s ariZoni award winning production of Die Fledermaus.
She was the study cover for “Cherubino” in Arizona Opera’s production of Le nozze di Figaro in 2013, and she joined the Arizona Opera Chorus that same year in The Flying Dutchman and La Bohème. She performed with the Arizona Opera Chorus this season in Arizona Lady (United States premiere), Carmen, and Falstaff. Other roles include “Third Lady” in The Magic Flute, “Mrs. Nolan” in The Medium, “First Shepherd” in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, and “Kate Pinkerton” in Madama Butterfly. This coming April, Ms. Schildkret will perform the role of “Mama” in a reading of Ellen Reid’s new opera Winter’s Child.Miriam Schildkret
This past summer, Ms. Schildkret was the mezzo-soprano soloist in the Mount Desert Summer Chorale’s performances of the Mozart Requiem and Vesperae solennes de confessore in Bar Harbor, Maine. In the Summer Chorale’s previous season, she sang the solos in the Vivaldi Gloria and the Durante Magnificat. In July 2014, she participated in the Vianden Music Festival, an international music festival in Luxembourg, where she performed numerous opera scenes and chamber music.
