Brian Bowes

Living in Santa Cruz, California, Brian Bowes’ illustrations shine with story-telling, draftsmanship, and creativity. His work has been included in numerous children’s books, notably in The Story of the Fisherman published by Foolscap Press. The Story of The Fisherman has been collected by university libraries from around the world, and a copy can be found in the Rare Book and Special Collections Division at the United States Library of Congress. A former Illustrator Coordinator for the San Francisco North & East Bay region of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), Bowes appreciates this community of like minded creators and enjoys actively participating and helping others. Brian Bowes was introduced to illustration while studying graphic design at the Santa Rosa Junior College. Using the momentum from his graduation from SRJC, Bowes then went on to graduate with distinction from the California College of the Arts (formerly C.C.A.C.) with a B.F.A in Illustration. His love of learning and a desire to push his work to new heights Bowes attended the University of Hartford’s Low Residency MFA in illustration and graduated in 2016. Mr. Bowes is a skilled communicator and enjoys giving workshops, teaching, and presentations. Mr. Bowes has been a guest lecture for the University of Berkeley (San Francisco extension), the California College of the Arts, and the Academy of Art University San Francisco. He has lead workshops at the Santa Cruz Art League and the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, and been a teacher in the Art After School program. Mr. Bowes is proudly represented by Ms. Deborah Warren of the East West Literary Agency.
